Where We Work
Our students teach in Guinea-Bissau, a small country on the Atlantic coast of West Africa, and in the nearby community of Kungpa. Schools there have few teachers for math, science, and English, so lessons run online — a volunteer in California and a student in West Africa on the same call.
Teaching, One Session at a Time
SV-LEAD volunteers teach math for analytical and problem-solving skills, science for curiosity about the world, and English writing and speaking for confident communication.
Every tutor is a student volunteer. They prepare their own lessons, meet their students regularly, and stay with them as they grow — which is what makes the program work.
